While Cambodia’s constitution makes clear that the country is a democratic state and citizen has a duty to take part in national reconstruction, concerns have repeatedly been raised about the extent to which democracy is realized in practice. The Youth Council of Cambodia has discovered a knowledge gap among young people in the areas of advocacy, democracy, governance, socioeconomic rights, policy development, commune planning, and budgeting. The organization hopes to fill this knowledge gap while also inspiring young people in Cambodia to take action and defend their beliefs in a way that respects Cambodian law.
